“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”
– Nelson Mandela
In the fall of 2011 the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Heads of Prosecution Subcommittee on the Prevention of Wrongful Convictions released a report entitled The Path to Justice: Preventing Wrongful Convictions, which was a follow-up to the 2005 Report on the Prevention of Miscarriages of Justice. The more recent report notes that “education continues to be recognized as one of the most direct routes to proactively preventing miscarriages of justice in this country.” Both reports recognized the importance of education for all justice sector participants – police, defence counsel, Crown prosecutors, and the judiciary – as all have been shown to contribute to wrongful convictions.
AIDWYC is dedicated to increasing the number of continuing legal educational opportunities for Police, Lawyers, Courtworkers, Justices of the Peace and the Judiciary on topics related to wrongful convictions.
AIDWYC posts all of our Continuing Legal Education Videos on our Vimeo and Vimeo on Demand Channels.
