We may be able to help you or someone that needs to be heard.
There is at present no system in place in Canada that allows for an independent review of claims of wrongful conviction. Such claims are instead reviewed by the federal Minister of Justice, through the efforts of the Criminal Conviction Review Group (CCRG) of the Department of Justice.

AIDWYC, through the efforts of some of the top legal experts in Canada, works to identify cases of wrongful conviction and, where warranted, prepares a "Section 696.1 application" for ministerial review to the CCRG.

AIDWYC presents the CCRG with an application that, in the absence of an arm's-length agency devoted to reviewing claims of wrongful conviction, is as complete and compelling as possible.

AIDWYC will be visiting clients in Alberta, Saskatchewan and B.C. in the fall of 2011. If you would like the opportunity to meet with our representative to discuss your case, please contact Win Wahrer at 1-800-249-1329 or via email at wwahrer@aidwyc.org.

OUTREACH
In addition to responding to direct inquiries, AIDWYC staff and volunteers actively reach out into prisons and to the community to inform people about the organization and to offer assistance to wrongly convicted individuals.
