About Us: AIDWYC Foundation
The AIDWYC Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization established and incorporated in July 2010. The AIDWYC Foundation operates as the main fundraising organization for AIDWYC. AIDWYC itself is not eligible for charitable status due to the fact that it engages in advocacy and works with international cases. Thus, although people are free to donate to AIDWYC (and many have), they cannot receive charitable receipts with resulting income tax benefits.
The AIDWYC Foundation will run events, solicit donations from individuals and corporations, and devote its energies and resources to fundraising. It will then, under very strict rules and agreements, give these funds to AIDWYC for charitable purposes guided by an agency agreement between the organizations. These charitable purposes include work to identify, advocate for, and exonerate the wrongly convicted, engagement in educational efforts, and provision of support to the exonerated in their transition back into society.
