Co-Presidents Messasge:
As Co-Presidents we see our job as doing whatever is necessary and possible to further AIDWYC's goals of identifying and freeing the wrongly convicted, educating the public about wrongful convictions, and advocating for changes that will prevent wrongful convictions in the future. As the most prominent organization in Canada dedicated to obtaining justice for the wrongly convicted, AIDWYC can and should do more. We believe that AIDWYC should be proactive in seeking out cases. The organization should reach out to more communities and groups, and in more provinces of Canada. We are sure that there are many cases of wrongful conviction about which we never hear.
AIDWYC must dedicate itself to finding these cases and helping them obtain justice. To accomplish this we are making greater efforts to obtain financial support so that we can pursue this type of outreach and also have the ability to provide the cases with the legal support they deserve. And with our interim Executive Director's help, the co-presidents and the board are engaged in a reinvigoration of the organization to enable it to serve a broader spectrum of cases more effectively than ever before. AIDWYC is a wonderful organization doing exceptional work. It is an honour to serve as co-presidents. We tip our hats to you for your support and efforts and look forward to another year of great successes and productive changes.
